Delay in concept art

I'm sorry to say that the concept art for Neo Cold War will be a bit later than expected. Due to me sharing my resources with a fellow artist I have run out of specialized paper. I promise to have artwork in sometime next week at the latest.

Neo Cold War Outline Draft

This is a draft that contains information on the story, setting, plot, and characters. Keep in mind that this is only a draft and any information present is subject to change.

Neo Cold War Storyline

Setting
A futuristic society (Eagle Nation) on a remote planet (implied to be Earth but never confirmed) is in an eternal arms race with the world’s only other civilization (Bear Nation). The world’s entire topography seems to be wasteland and the Eagles and Bears share territory on the only small continent amidst a vast dead sea. They are separated by No Man’s Land, a large stretch of land rotted and dangerously radioactive due to the nuclear war that tore the nations apart.
Eagle Nation: A small territory of democracy. It is the main setting of the story.
Eagle Middle School: The school where our main cast of children get their education.
Pilate’s Lab: The laboratory of Professor Ganda Berunda Pilate and foster home of the children.
No Man’s Land: A radioactive wasteland that lies between the Eagle and Bear Nations.
Bear Nation: A small territory of communism. They are the opposition to the Eagle Nation.
Berserker Manor: Home and headquarters of Duke Berserker.

Plot: The tension between the nations heats up as the Bear Nation nears the completion of it’s Nuclear satellite, capable of firing neutron bombs to any location on the continent, and the Eagle Nation nears the completion of its vast AI army of soldiers. The young main cast fear for the unstable peace in their isolated Eagle Nation and worry for their foster father, the top scientist in the nation responsible for the creation of AI. Their young lives are turned upside down as they deal with enemy spies, traitors, and are ultimately forced to fight in a war that will decide the fate of the world. Neo Cold War contains plot twists and allegories as well as a classic, stylistic art style and storytelling mechanic.
Characters
Yoshi: a brave yet sensible and intelligent young man. He is one of the foster children of Professor Pilate. He is best friends with his foster brothers Rex and Theo as well as Rocket. Marble is the only person in his foster family who he treats like actual family; he treats her like a younger sister. He is a citizen in of the Eagle Nation.
Rex: a foolhardy young man and a troublemaker. He is one of the foster children of Professor Pilate and is best friends with his foster brothers Theo and Yoshi. He loves to play pranks and take risks which usually leads to trouble for his siblings. He has a strained relationship with Rocket and he looks up to Apollo. He is a citizen of the Eagle Nation.
Theo: a timid, shy young man, although he is a wise guy at heart.. He is one of the foster children of Professor Pilate and is best friends with Rex, Yoshi, and Rocket. He is not as brave as his friends and will usually hang back with Marble when Rex and Yoshi are planning something potentially dangerous. He is a citizen of the Eagle Nation.
Marble: the youngest of the children adopted by Professor Pilate. She and Yoshi have a brother-sister relationship while Rex usually picks on her since she is the youngest. She is fascinated with Rocket and is a citizen of the Eagle Nation. She has a particularly sweet and innocent demeanor.
Professor Ganda Berunda Pilate: Eagle Nation’s top scientist and the inventor of the Artificial Intelligence used in the AI Corps. Because of the growing number of orphans in the country after the last Eagle-Bear Conflict, the government put four young children (Yoshi, Rex, Theo, and Marble) in his care. The children help him around the lab and see him as a mentor rather than a father. With the children’s help, he developed Rocket from a failed copy of Apollo. He was childhood friends with Duke Berserker.
Duke Olaf G. R. Berserker: The Prime Minister of the Bear Nation and a tyrannical Communist ruler. He has subtle mental issues ranging from schizophrenia to solipsism making him a dangerous leader. He is connected to Professor Pilate as the two were childhood friends before the world was split into two nations. He is the father of Jermyn.
Jermyn Berserker: A strong-willed, top-notch Bear Nation child soldier who usually has his head in the clouds. He is the son of Duke Berserker and fiancé of Rebekka. Despite being at the top of his class at the Juvenile Military Academy (which makes him the apple of his father’s eye) he aspires to be a poet or scholar. His arranged fiancé Rebekka does not understand him and wishes to use his status to get herself to the top and fulfill her own desires. Jermyn goes through many changes after he meets and befriends the Eagle Nation children.
Apollo: An advanced artificial intelligence robot soldier who serves as the captain of the Eagle Nation’s AI Corps. He is considered Pilate’s magnum opus and despite his confused attitude towards the culture of humans, he is a well-respected and beloved figure among the Eagle citizens. He is equipped with a powerful rifle in his arm as well as other hidden weapons.
Rocket: A child android with an enhanced version of Apollo’s AI engine. He was created by Pilate as a gift for the children and to test the capacity of a robot’s AI when growing along with humans. He has an overly upbeat attitude and his naivety often leads to awkward situations. He has hidden rockets in his feet to propel him in the air in huge leaps.
Rebekka: A mysterious young girl and fiancé to Jermyn. She plans to use Jermyn to boost her status in the Bear Nation government. Her maniacal ambitions are hidden behind her alluring personality and innocent demeanor. In truth she is vicious and cunning as well as physically and mentally formidable. Her ultimate goal is to dethrone her future father-in-law who she sees as unfit to rule.
Wihtikow: A boogeyman-like spirit that haunts No Man’s Land, although many believe him to be a myth thought up by the children. As the story progresses it begins to seem as though there is something more to this fable. As it turns out, the creature is in fact a hulking mutant that formed in the radioactive waste of No Man’s Land.

Reading Progress

I have been diligently reading two books (How to Draw Cutting Edge Comics, and How to Draw Comics the MARVEL Way) that have been very helpful with formatting comic pages. They have also helped me brush up on my drawing skills. Next I will take a look on the publishing books.

Update on Progress

Recently I have loaned various books on comic book structure and publishing market. These books have been a tremendous skill sharpener and a splendid source of information.
Also an in depth draft of the characters, setting, and plot has been complete. A scene by scene script of the events is in progress and should be completed after two weeks at most.
